Pre-university Programmes Overview: Form Six, Matriculation, A-level, AUSMAT, SAM, ICPU, IB, Foundation
Foundation programs are developed by colleges and universities for students who wish to progress to a diploma or degree course at the same institutions.
Some programs prepare students for specific course ie a business foundation program leads to a business degree program. There also general foundation programs such as a foundation in arts or a foundation in science, which prepares students for a variety o courses at university.
Foundation programs are one of a few pre-university courses which enable students to complete degree programs in a shorter time period compare to conventional routes.
Entry Requirements
SPM / O level / UEC or equilvalent: 5 credits incluiding English, mathematics and science subjects will be needed for more technical programs such as health sciences and engineering.
Duration
9 months to a year
Intake
These vary among institutions but they are usually in January, March, May, July/ August.
Fee
RM 3,750 – RM 9.000 (private colleges and universities) and RM10,000 – RM 19,500 (foreign university with a local campus).
Subjects and Assessment
These vary according to the type of foundation course pursued.

Anonymous,
If you are sure that you are going for Bio-tech, i would suggest you A-level or STPM. depends whether you want to go for oversea or local. If you can afford oversea university, you should take A-level over STPM.If you are still not sure whether you want to go local or oversea, you should give STPM a try. Foundation in science in UNISEL will limit your choices of university after you finish the foundation program. Because not many university recognise UNISEL foundation in science program because different university offers different syllabus in their foundation program so think twice about it.
Anonymous,
you can google it.
Elle,
I dont know about the exact cost but why don't you just go there and visit them? I think it's around RM16k for the whole course.

Cheers bro, I'm currently studying TESL in Auckland University under Ministry of Education's scholarship, which I applied after SPM (2004). I did not go through A-level like the MARA's folks did. Just two years of foundation in local teachers college and another four in overseas. Really giffy considering that I'm studying in the same year (3rd yeard) with MARA TESL students who are a year older than most of my cohorts. I would suggest that more students applies for MoE TESL scholarship, especially guys, because we need more male teacher. There's another benefit too that we are bounded by contract to serve the ministry in teaching position after we finished our studies.

Anonymous,
Based on your daughter's situation, I would suggest those include assignments marks courses for her instead of 100% academically course because it would be hard for her to rush the syllabus within 1.5 years.

Hi, i am currently facing a problem.
I'm a 2006 SPM graduate, currently studying a 3 years Industrial Design course in a private college.
For a degree program, would it be possible to enroll into a local University.
Will they recognize my diploma,or do i have to go through another 3 years program under the local University to obtain a Degree.
Thank you.

im told that for medicine its better to do foundation since its faster. there are some foundations that cater specifically to pre medical programmes but for those who are going to uk or aust a levels is better recognised there. for me its too expensive to do my degree there close to 1 mil im told! i might go for my masters or specialization
