National Service / Khidmat Negara (PLKN) 2012 Name List and Exclusion Categories

Update 10/7/2011: 2012 NS name list was reportedly available since 9 July 2011. The official PLKN website is down at the moment due to heavy traffic. Try check back later. As of 8:44PM, PLKN website is up and running very slowly due to heavy traffic. While waiting for the website to load, sign up at Everyday and Groupon to buy cheap coupons!

The Program Latihan Khidmat Negara (PLKN) / National Service (NS) Malaysia 2012 name list (senarai nama) will be released officially in mid of July this year. Current form five students who are born in 1994 must be very nervous while waiting for the name list to be released.

How to check PLKN name list online?
Check online for free using your IC Number at the official Khidmat Negara website.

How to check your NS status by SMS? (Semakan Status Terpilih Menjalani Latihan PLKN)
Type: PLKN SEMAK [IC Number] and send to 15888
For example: PLKN SEMAK 940823065127 and send to 15888
If you are short-listed, you will receive SMS similar to the below:
PLKN Tahniah! 940823065127 MUHAMMAD HAFIZA BIN ABDULLAH terpilih menyertai PLKN Siri 9/2012
If you are not short-listed, you will receive SMS similar to the below:
Maaf! 940823065127 tidak dipilih untuk menyertai PLKN Siri 9/2012.

National Service / Khidmat Negara (PLKN) Malaysia

NS Exclusion Categories (dikecualikan dari menyertai PLKN)
According to Subsection 4(1), those who fall under one of the following eight categories are excluded from taking part in National Service program:
  • Fatal disease or condition – requires official confirmation by a medical officer.
  • Contagious disease – requires official confirmation by a medical officer.
  • Physically disabled – those have learning difficulties or special needs including those have OKU card (Kad Orang Kurang Upaya)
  • Insanity – those who are seriously mentally ill
  • Undergoing drug rehabilitation
  • Detained by the Children's Act of 2001 (Act 612)
  • Currently being held under preventive detention - such as those detained under the Internal Security Act
The following two categories of civilian are excluded from national service as well:
  • Pregnant women
  • Full-time member or full-time trainee of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency or Prisons Department of Malaysia (Jabatan Penjara Malaysia).
Those who are interested to experience National Service program but are not short-listed can apply to enter the program after filling out certain forms in camps. I do have friends who volunteered to join National Service program even they were not selected in the official name list.

PTPTN Offers Exchange of 3% Loan to 1% Ujrah Loan till September 30

Update 2/9/2011: PTPTN to turn 800,000 study loans taken after 2008 into Islamic loans for lower repayment rates. You can apply online for the conversion at www.ptptn.gov.my

Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) is in the process of offering the exchange of 3% loan to 1% Ujrah loan in stages. The loan exchange process period from 3% & 5% to 1% Ujrah will be extended to the 30th of September 2011. Do apply for the exchange immediately before the expiry date to avoid missing this great offer!

3. Print out and fill up the agreement form
4. Mail it to PTPTN within 30 days

MUET & STPM 2012 Exam Calendar: 3 Times MUET A Year

Update: 2011 Midyear MUET results out on 13 June 2011 (Monday).

SMS by typing MUET [space] IC number and send it to 15888 or 36363 from 12.00 midnight June 13 onwards or check online at http://www.mpm.edu.my 9 am onwards.

Dissatisfied candidates may appeal for MUET papers to be reassessed with a payment of RM70 by June 27, 2011. Candidates wishing to register for 2011 yearend MUET may register at www.mesp.gov.my/online by July 21, 2011.

Reminder: Registration for MUET End Year 2011 will be closed on 20 June 2011
Malaysian Examinations Council (Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia) has announced the examination calendar for STPM and MUET 2012. Another important official announcement is Malaysian University English Test (MUET) will be conducted three times in a year, from year 2012 onwards. MUET is expected to be held in March, July and November every year.

Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM or Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia)

Registration: 9 January – 10 February 2012
Examination Date: 19 November – 13 December 2012

Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

Registration: 1 November – 17 November 2011 (19 January 2012 for candidates who wish to improve on their MUET End 2011 test scores)

Written Test: 3 March 2012

July Session
Registration: 2 April – 19 April 2012 (3 May 2012 for candidates who wish to improve on their MUET March 2012 test scores)
Speaking Test: 9, 10, 11, 12 July 2012

Registration: 9 July – 26 July 2012 (20 September 2012 for candidates who wish to improve on their MUET July 2012 test scores)
